KLIA 2

The Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) is said to be built to be the country next generation international airport hub. The intention is to allow seamless connection for domestic and international low cost and full service carriers. Besides that, it is built to cater the exponential growth in the low cost travel industry, in which everyone can fly.

KLIA2 is opened in May 2014 replacing the existing Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT). It is located less than 2km away from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), and is linked to KLIA and KL Sentral via an Express Rail Link that creates seamless connectivity between the two terminals and the city centre.

The Arrival Hall, the final stop for all passengers on either domestic or international arrivals, is located at Level 2 of the Main Terminal Building, where the Immigrations and Customs check will take place before entering into the country. For domestic arrivals, your flight will be landed at domestic gates at Pier J or Pier K whereas for international arrivals, you will be landed at international gates at Pier L, Pier P or Pier Q. At the arrival hall, you will go through the immigration check, collect your luggage, shop for duty-free goods and then clear the customs checkpoint to exit.

The Departure Hall is located at Level 3 of the Main Terminal Building at the KLIA2 airport, where the passengers will be checking-in, drop luggage and complete immigrations check to enter the boarding gates. The KLIA2 Departure Hall accommodates check in and luggage drop counters, various food and services shop, waiting area, public concourse before your pass the immigration counters, customs counters and security check counters for both domestic and international departures.

At KLIA2, the skybridge links the main terminal building and the satellite building, connecting the passenger from terminal building to the satellite building, allowing passengers to travel between these two points in just over five minutes. The satellite building which has 2 levels is located at the end of skybridge. The Level 2 of the satellite building connects to the International Piers, P and Q. The satellite building has a transfer hall in the centre to accommodate flight transfer process.

In terms of hotels in case you are waiting for your flight and need a clean and cosy room for a good rest, there are quite a number of hotels strategically located within a close proximity from KLIA2. In addition, there are free shuttle transfers available for your convenience. Some hotels are just few minutes’ walk away from the airport terminal check in counters. Options of hotels available include Tune Hotel KLIA2, Capsule by Container Hotel KLIA2 and Sama-Sama Express KLIA2 (Airside Transit Hotel.

The entire Level 1 of the KLIA2 which is also the gateway mall is allocated as the transportation hub for the airport. At this level, you can find various travel options such as the Express Rail Link (ERL) train services, bus services, taxi services and car rental services. You can easily find buses frequently travelling between the KLIA2 airport and the central Kuala Lumpur city. Other than that, you can also buy bus ticket to other cities like Seremban, Malacca, Ipoh, Petaling Jaya, Klang and Johor Bahru. The train ticket for ERL train services is available for purchase at the ERL station located at Level 2. After purchasing the ticket, you can go down to Level 1 to board the ERL train. For both metered taxi and coupon-based taxi services, you may proceed to the taxi terminal at the transportation hub.
