Self driving car kit
Self driving car kit is a mod or extra hardware that you add to your car that enables self autonomous driving capability to the car. If you are not familiar with self autonomous driving vehicle. This would be an interest kit /mod to let you have autonomous driving capability that is usually available in high end car.
Level 0
Level 0 would be the equivalent of human driving. This means that every function needs human intervention and responsibility.
Level 1
At level Level 1, the car only gives a bit of help to the human while driving. Such autonomous are limited to adding or reducing vehicle speed . The driver must be actively driving and engaged all the times.
Level 2
Level 2 refers to conditional driving automation. The system of the car is able to control steering while adding or reducing vehicle speed. Cars manufacturers such as Tesla has been in Level 2 autonomous for a long time. The driver must be ready actively, to take control of the car anytime
Level 3
At level 3, the car is capable of driving and handling most environments and conditions. This is conditionally automated. At the time of writing, most countries do not let people to drive on level 3 autonomous mode. Mercedez Benz Drive Pilot has a level 3 autonomous driving system.
Level 4
At level 4, the vehicle is capable of driving any most conditions and environments. Driver would only need to intervene when there are specifics conditions.
Level 5
At level 5, the car is capable of driving under any conditions. This would be the true autonomous driving capabilities that do not requires any assistance from driver.
