GEMAS: A 22-year-old man was detained by police on Saturday for allegedly raping his 14-year-old girlfriend at his house in Felda Jelai the previous night.

The girl had lodged a report at 3am on Saturday claiming her boyfriend had duped her into believing that they were going to a friend's house for a Hari Raya do but instead took her to his home.

He raped her at 9pm and sent her home later that night.

The victim's family suspected something amiss as she had returned late and managed to coax the truth out of her.

Acting district police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Isa Ujang said the man was detained at 10pm on Saturday. Isa said the victim was sent for a medical check-up.
